Former managing director of the World Economic Forum from Davos and director of the Davos Annual Meetings, world’s leading gathering of business and political leaders, Stéphane Garelli has pioneered research in the field of competitiveness for 25 years. He produces the World Competitiveness Yearbook: the annual report that analyses and ranks the competitiveness of nations.

He has written numerous articles on the subject. His latest book is entitled “Top Class Competitors” Wiley). Stéphane Garelli is director of IMD World Competitiviness Center, professor at IMD (one of the world’s leading business schools) and at the University of Lausanne, Switzerland. 

Stéphane Garelli is not only an academic specialist in business, but is a respected businessman with a high level career in top management of large international companies (such as Hewlett Packard, Sandoz FF Banking and Financial Holding, Banque Edouard Constant). He is currently chairman of the board of Le Temps, the leading French language Swiss newspaper (since 2001).

Hamish McRae is chief economist at “The Independent”, one of the most respected newspaper in UK.

Hamish McRae became one of the foremost proven visionary of the global economy after more than three decades of financial and economic analytical background. He has been a financial and business editor for major national newspapers, and has won several awards for his journalistic work. His most recent award was Business and Finance Journalist of the Year in the 2006 British Press Awards. 

Currently, he is working on a new book studying how excellence is developed in different economic situations around the world. He is also an author of economic books (such as The World in 2020: Power, Culture and Prosperity, What Works: What It Takes to Succeed in a Competitive Global Marketplace and What Works: Success in Stressful Times).
